Upcoming Housing and Land Use-Related Events:

  • Monday, Aug. 8 at 1 p.m.: The City Planning Commission holds a remote review session. More here
  • Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 10 a.m.: The City Council’s General Welfare Committee will hold an oversight hearing on the rise in the Department of Homeless Services shelter population, with a focus on long-term shelter intake problems and services for asylum-seekers. The hearing is remote. More here.
  • Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 9:30 a.m.:  The Landmarks Preservation Commission holds a remote public hearing. Read the agenda here.
  • Tuesday, Aug. 9 from 6 to 8 p.m.: The Department of Housing Preservation and Development holds the latest instalmment in its “Property Management Series.” The event, Save Energy, Save Money – Energy-Efficiency and Resiliency for Homeowners, addresses the climate crisis and resiliency and will take place over Zoom.   • Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 1 p.m.: The City Planning Commission holds a public hearing. More on the agenda here.
  • Thursday, Aug. 11 at 8 a.m.: Real estate developers and city officials attend the New York City Affordable Housing Conference at 85 West Street in Manhattan. The event features panel discussions on the expiration of 421a and financing for affordable housing. More here.
  • Thursday, Aug. 11 at 11 a.m.: The Housing Policy Fellows of the Family Homelessness Coalition—lived experts of homelessness— present a Zoom panel to provide information and resources for children’s education, mental health, and behavioral health while living in a shelter or experiencing homelessness. The event is called “What Really Happens in Shelter with Lived Experts of Homelessness.” Register and find out more here.
  • NYCHA is seeking tenants to join its Residents Roundtable Committee: The Resident Roundtable Committee consists of 32 residents who reflect NYCHA’s diverse population and represent each of the Authority’s Neighborhood Portfolio. Members provide valuable feedback and recommendations to implement the Transformation Plan. Roundtable members work extensively within their assigned Neighborhood Portfolio to solicit resident feedback. The position comes with a $200 monthly stipend. Learn more information and apply here.

NYC Affordable Housing Lotteries Ending Soon

The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development is closing lotteries on the following subsidized buildings over the next week:

  • The Shirley, 4578 Manhattan College Pkwy, Bronx, NY 10471 for households earning $39,429 to $187,330 a year
  • Park 79 Apartments, 117 West 79th St., New York, NY 10024 for households earning $0 to $53,400 a year.
  • Comunilife Third Avenue – El Borinquen, 3401 Third Ave., Bronx, NY 10456 for households earning $17,898 to $72,060 a year.
  • 903 Eagle Avenue, 903 Eagle Ave., Bronx, NY 10456 for households earning $54,686 to $156,130 a year.
  • The Green House, 1027 Jackson Ave., Queens, NY 11101 for households earning $83,349 to $187,330 a year.
  • 601 West 29th Street Apartments, 601 West 29th St., New York, NY 10001 for households earning $26,229 to $144,100 a year.
